Because an essential skill for Hindu kids today is the vocabulary -
To understand clearly..
To think critically..
To respond smartly..
In the news currently - After the Pahalgam attack in which Hindus were targeted and killed, the Internet began to see a few stories of people refusing to do business with Muslims (while most were fake, some were true). Read on to understand the issue and know how to respond when someone confronts you or your child. Start these kinds of conversations with your kids.
Will terrorism win if I cancel that cab ride? Are we being guilt-tripped for our fear?
Fear Isn’t Hate! Feeling uneasy or hyper-alert after a terror attack is a human survival response.. Not an ideology of hate or bigotry. Teach your children the difference between fear and hate. Talk to them about it. Fear is a response to hate. Our fear is not bigotry!
One Incident ≠ Xenophobia! Choosing not to ride with a Muslim cab driver in a moment of fear is not the same as endorsing systemic hate or Islamophobia. It's emotional, not political. Discuss with your children. Nobody else will.
Victim Shaming is disguised as virtue. Shaming people for their fear shifts the focus away from the real perpetrators. Victim shaming is wrong! Every Hindu child needs to know this. Don’t let your child be bullied into feeling ashamed as a Hindu.
“Terrorism wins if we don’t embrace all Muslims”… ..is a smokescreen to shield jihadist ideology within parts of the Muslim community.. Freedom of choice is our fundamental right as individuals. Teach your child that it’s okay to want to feel safe without fear or shame.
