A Communications Workshop for Teens

Workshop Details: Introduction

There is an urgent need for children to be introduced to the treasures of Bharatiya knowledge systems. This workshop aims to help teenagers understand and appreciate the Indian aesthetic tradition of Alankaara shaastra in a fun, interactive way. The discussions include examples from Sanskrit and English literature with many contemporary applications that will help in their overall development into well-rounded, happy, and successful young adults.

The overall focus will be on communication techniques from Alankara Shastra, adapted for the modern world. Participants will also learn to analyse media messaging, which is an absolutely necessary skill to develop today.

Objectives

• To develop a broad understanding and appreciation of Indian Aesthetics.

• To become skilled at applying concepts to interpersonal communication, media analysis, self-presentation, problem-solving and emotional awareness.

• To hone skills like emotional maturity, judgement, perception, analysis in daily life.

  Expected Outcomes

• Children will gain familiarity with Indic ways of thinking and learn key concepts from Alankaara shaastra or Indian aesthetics.

• Children will be able to apply their learnings from Alankaara shaastra for real-world success and personal effectiveness.

Beneficiaries

• Children from ages 11 - 17 (grades 6 -12) who wish to develop their personality while getting an introduction to Indian aesthetics or Alankaara shaastra.

• STEM kids looking to enhance soft skills and all-round personality development

Timing and other Details:

• The workshop consists of seven sessions on the following dates:

  April 24 - April 30 2025

  10 am IST daily

  Sessions will be approximately 90 minutes each

  Recordings and notes will be provided.

  Payment will be 2000/- INR applicable to registrations from within India only. The payment for others will be $50 for the entire workshop. Participants outside India can also register and we will try to hold the workshop for your time zone if there is a sufficient number of enrolments.
